Machan, Krishnagiri
In the heart of Tamil Nadu, near Denkanikottai, a vision unfolded – a machan soaring 18 to 20 feet high, where nature and design would dance in harmony.
The challenge? An organic-shaped roof that defied convention, a feat made possible by the extraordinary flexibility of bamboo! Bamboo, the chosen maestro, allowed for bends and curves in all dimensions – x, y, and z planes – creating an intricate tapestry of form.
The highlight? Pillars that seamlessly transformed into beams, taking an unprecedented 90-degree turn inwards and then gracefully bending in the x and y planes. A true spectacle of 3D bending, an architectural rarity achieved with the remarkable malleability of bamboo!
As the structure reached skywards, the final touch was a roofing masterpiece – a thatch crown that encapsulated the essence of the Tamil Nadu landscape.
The initial project concept’s broad outline was provided by Treelight Design. The remarkable Radhika Saran played a pivotal role in bringing this concept to life through her meticulous design.
What makes this project all the more special to us is its personal significance – marking Monish Kannan's inaugural venture with our team! Starting as an intern, he now spearheads design and implementation at Bamboopecker, playing a crucial role in overseeing and executing all phases for not just this project but also for every subsequent one we’ve undertaken.
A testament to the boundless possibilities of bamboo, this machan stands not just as a platform but as a living narrative of nature’s collaboration with human ingenuity.
The bamboo, bending in every conceivable direction, whispered its story – a story of resilience, flexibility, and the creation of something truly extraordinary!
