At The Palms, JP Nagar, Bangalore, we showcased how an invasive species like lantana can be used in large quantities to create unique rustic aesthetics. Clearing our forests of this invasive species – Lantana Camara, is the need of the hour to help our forests regenerate to its past glory.
Through this project we were able to show the world how an ecological issue can be turned into a resource.
By using lantana camara in fencing, cladding, installations, lighting and partitions we are able to employ local tribes giving them an alternate livelihood and hence funding the clearance of Lantana from the forests which otherwise would have come from the tax payer’s money.
At The Palms, using Lantana we made a large organic lighting installation, an umbrella bar and even accomplished 8000 SFT of fencing in 20 days. Bamboopecker also created 3D panels of swirls and strokes using cane to provide a unique aesthetic to the main bar at The Palms.
