Our collaboration with GEAR Innovative Intl. School, Bangalore took root in a mutual appreciation for thoughtfully crafted, eco-friendly products.
It began with their initial purchase of modas, mats, and other school supplies. Eventually, the idea to craft a bleacher for their football ground emerged!
This marked one of our first explorations into bending hollow bamboo for a structure of this magnitude. Employing 3.5 to 4-inch bamboo, we embarked on a unique design journey where the entire structure defied convention by standing on a single pillar.
Unlike typical structures supported on all four corners, ours embraced central pillars set 10 feet apart, with short bamboo pillars lending support to the back of the roof.
To complete the structure, we employed Onduline roofing—an eco-friendly material crafted from recycled rubber and paper. The final touch involved finishing the structure with pure cashew nut shell oil.
Beyond its physical form, this bamboo sanctuary has transformed into a space that fosters student camaraderie and sportsmanship.
It stands as a testament to the seamless fusion of thoughtful design and sustainable materials, creating a haven that encapsulates the spirit of growth, unity, and the enduring beauty of bamboo.
